Terms of service

Version 2026-10-03

These terms apply between citizen.stream (operator legal name to be confirmed before public launch) and the organisation that opens a citizen.stream account.

The service

citizen.stream provides hosted radio channels, a newsroom upload service, an automated briefing and a console for each place you add. We aim for the service to be available at all times and will tell you about planned maintenance.

Your content and your licences

  • You keep all rights in what you broadcast. You give us the licence needed to store and transmit it for you.
  • You are the broadcaster. You must hold the music, performance and broadcast licences your country requires before commercial music goes on air. See music licensing.
  • You are responsible for the lawfulness of what you broadcast, including defamation, privacy, election and advertising rules.

Acceptable use

No unlawful content, no hate speech or incitement, no undisclosed advertising, no attempts to disrupt the platform or reach other organisations' data. We may suspend a channel that puts listeners or the platform at risk and will tell you why.

Automated operator

The operator can restart channels and rebuild briefings on its own. It asks a person before any action that publishes, deletes, pauses or spends. You remain responsible for editorial decisions.

Fees

Plans and prices are shown on the pricing page. The pilot is free. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance and can be cancelled at any time, effective at the end of the month.

Data protection

The data processing terms form part of this agreement.

Liability

Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise our total liability in any year is limited to the fees you paid in that year, and neither party is liable for indirect loss.

Ending

Either party may end the agreement with 30 days' notice. On request we export your audio and records, then delete them within 30 days of the end date.

Law

The law of England and Wales applies, without removing any mandatory protection you have under the law of your own country.
